After a brand refresh or website redesign, many businesses encounter a frustrating problem: even though the homepage's <title> has already been changed to the new brand name, the site name shown above the URL in Google or Baidu search results, or the suffix at the end of internal page titles, stubbornly retains the old name. It may even create a confusing combination such as “New Brand Name - Old Brand Name.”
When Google generates site names and title links in search results, it does not look only at the <title> tag. It evaluates multiple signals across the website. Check the following five locations one by one:

1. Five Key Locations to Check When Site Names and Titles Have Not Updated
- The homepage's
<head>:WebSitestructured data (JSON-LD) This is the most important basis Google uses to identify the official site name. Check whether the homepage source code includes standardWebSiteschema. Ensure that its"name"and"alternateName"have been updated to the new brand name, for example"name": "JVDS界达设计","alternateName": ["界达设计", "JVDS"], and that"url"points to the single preferred primary domain. - Open Graph (
og:site_nameandog:title) and<meta name="application-name">In many CMS setups, the SEO title is changed, but<meta property="og:site_name" content="Old Name" />in a social-sharing plugin or global header template is overlooked. Google readsog:site_nameas an important reference for the site name. If the old name remains here, the search results may continue to delay switching. - Global suffix concatenation rules in internal page
<title>templates Check the rules that generate titles for internal pages, such as service pages, paginated listings, and privacy policy pages. If an internal page title has becomeUI/UX Design | JVDS - Old Name, the “Global Site Suffix” field in the back office still retains the old value and needs to be cleaned up and standardized immediately. - The homepage logo image's
altattribute and the footer copyright statement In the top navigation's<header>, check thealtattribute of the logo image linking to the homepage, along with the<H1>tag and the copyright text in the<footer>. Confirm that the brand name is identical in all these locations. - Actively request recrawling in Google Search Console and Baidu's webmaster platform After completing the code cleanup above, do not passively wait for the crawler's regular visits; deeply paginated pages may take weeks to be recrawled. Immediately open GSC, use URL Inspection, and click “Request Indexing” for the homepage and top-level section pages. Also submit a site revision or crawl diagnostic request in Baidu Search Resource Platform.
